To celebrate the glory of the animal kingdom and delve into the relationship between humans and other animals, animal welfare, vivisection, endangered species, direct action and other issues.
This two day festival is presenting 14 varied movies including:
“Chimpanzees an unnatural History” documents the lives of chimpanzees who spent decades in animal laboratories and then find a home in a sanctuary outside of Montreal.
“GreenPeace Making a Stand” Introduced by one of the GreenPeace founders Rex Weyler; The documentary explores what inspires people to risk their lives for their beliefs - to sail a ship into a nuclear test zone, to get between a pod of whales and an explosive harpoon, or to block bulldozers mowing down a forest. This compelling documentary looks at the 35 year evolution of Greenpeace from the early days of the environmental movement in the 1970s, to the front lines of a potentially dangerous campaign in Argentina.
“Frankensteer” (45 minutes) a disturbing documentary that reveals how the ordinary cow has been turned into an antibiotic-dependent, hormone-laced potential carrier of toxic bacteria, all in the name of cheaper food.
“Cormorants in the Great Lakes. Dispelling the Myths” This 27 minute DVD discusses the history and biology of cormorants, their role in Great Lakes ecosystems and what private citizens can do to help cormorants.
“In The Raw” Vegan author Dr. Ruth Heidrich is the best example of senior fitness in the world today. Her youthful looks and effervescent mien speak volumes. Her triumph over breast cancer and countless triathlon and running race victories, as well as three fitness world records, loudly proclaim the efficacy of her teachings.
