Tell Bell to stop sponsoring rodeo cruelty!
This year’s Calgary Stampede rodeo (July 8-17) will once again subject animals to pain, fear and stress for the sake of entertainment. Telecommunications company Bell Canada is a key sponsor of the rodeo, in which six horses died last year and many more animals suffered.
The Vancouver Humane Society (VHS) is asking the public to write to Bell, urging the company to stop supporting the Stampede rodeo. Bell customers can also advise the company that they can switch service providers if they believe Bell is supporting animal cruelty.
Please ask Bell Canada’s chief executive officer, George Cope, to stop Bell’s support for the rodeo until the Stampede takes serious steps to end the cruelty. VHS is asking the Stampede to begin by eliminating calf-roping, one of the worst events.
