Spay/neuter project a success thanks to animal hero

Fund was named in honour of VHS supporter's cat, Punky

Jamie Lee is one of our animal heroes! In 2009, she set up the Jamie & Punky Fund with VHS, in memory of a sweet little white cat named Punky that she rescued many years ago. This fund supports a spay/neuter project in Surrey which is overseen by two VHS directors and continues to be an overwhelming success. Our directors make sure that every dollar is stretched to the limit – we have a special arrangement with vets in the area for an incredibly reduced price for spay or neuter surgery. Since it began, more than 142 cats have been spayed or neutered!!

Here are just a couple of cats that have been helped by Jamie.

Tootsie

Tootsie belongs to a resident in a trailer park, who is on a disability pension and suffering from cancer. Tootsie needed to be spayed, and we were happy to help. Now she won’t be contributing to the overpopulation of cats and she’s deeply loved and appreciated, providing comfort to someone in need.

Charlie

Charlie was another stray in the same area. He was taken in by a resident, but badly needed treatment for a severe case of ear mites, and of course, needed to be neutered. Now he has a loving home, and, like Tootsie, is providing his human friend with much-appreciated affection!

Thank you, Jamie and Punky! If you would like to contribute to the fund, (we’d be very grateful!) please do so here.
